I attended Julia’s presentation (sitting on the floor due to its popularity) on Salvaging Sisterhood at the recent ASCA conference and while I found a brief moment on the Exhibition Floor afterwords to offer you praise for the research you’ve done and your delivery of the material, I wanted to take another moment to say nice job. I hope that you continue to share what you have learned to those of us who are still recognizing relational aggression as an issue to be understood. As a male counselor working in a sea of female secondary students  I found your insights very valuable and inspiring. I also appreciate that you are willing to share what you’ve learned through your website. Consider this another job well done and thanks for your hard work.

The Salvaging Sisterhood program was a huge success!I really liked how it encouraged the girls to explore their own personal identities separate from their social group. It helped them build confidence in themselves, which is such an important part of development.I would recommend this program to counselors working with young ladies at all stages of social development.

Julia was able to present the topic of relational aggression last week at our monthly counselors meeting. I emailed our director at she immediately replied to have us present at the next meeting -and so we did. Our administrative staff has also requested that we prepare to present to the staff as well for in-house professional development and a parent workshop! Isn’t that wonderful? I am so excited!! And I wanted to just email to thank you for all the hard work you have already put into this topic that has provided the foundation needed for us to further exploring and working with the topic as it applies in our building/district! Your presentation was so thorough and comprehensive that I was able to borrow from it (giving you credit of course) and still make it our own. Thank you, Julia, for coming to our district to speak concerning some of the issues girls face in an academic setting. Many times parents and educators view bullying as a male issue, but again and again we hear about how cruel girls can be to each other.
