As Publicity and Events Planning Assistant, Shannan helps spread the message of social justice and authenticity by researching and supporting RPW Inc.'s marketing endeavors, website development, customer outreach, and new projects.
Shannan graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Philosophy and Law & Society in May of 2009. At Cornell, she wrote a pop-culture focused humorous social commentary in the Cornell Daily Sun, was a four-year member and senior captain of the Women's Basketball team, and promoted leadership and service on campus with the senior honor society of Quill and Dagger. Even before applying to work for Rosalind Wiseman, Shannan helped spread her message of dignity by never once talking behind a friend's back, and by telling anyone within earshot that she thought the movie Mean Girls was "totally awesome."
Since joining the RPW Inc. team in August, Shannan has played a supporting role in the planning of such events as Rosalind's Webinar Series and the Owning Up Training Institute, researching and implementing new marketing platforms and website development, and preparing for the release of Boys, Girls & Other Hazardous Materials. She is passionate about media and culture literacy, and is thrilled to begin contributing to Rosalind Wiseman's guest blogs.
Shannan hails from a self sufficient town north of Buffalo, NY, world-renowned as the home of the one-time widest bridge in the world. Her previous work experience includes marketing, public relations, and journalism at internet-based companies, along with bartending, sweater scales, and professional ice cream scooping. She enjoys writing, basketball, stand-up comedy, and Kevin Jonas.
